Nancy Triou began training at Tails-U-Win! when it opened in 1991 and she has never left.  She started with her first Flat-Coated Retriever, Destry, working in obedience.  Nancy now owns 4 Flat-Coats and they train and compete in Conformation, Agility, Obedience, Rally, Tracking, and Freestyle.

Nancy has been enjoying Freestyle with her dogs since 1995. After watching a demo by Donna Duford and her PBGV Chie, Nancy decided that Freestyle was something she had to try with her own dogs. She began training with Donna and eventually assisted her with workshops and classes at Camp Gone to the Dogs. Nancy has continued to introduce people and dogs to Freestyle through workshops and classes.

Canine Freestyle is lots of fun!  It is a wonderful way to strengthen the bond between you and your dog while improving training skills and increasing attention. Nancy and her canine partners have participated in Freestyle competitions, but they prefer performing at demos, fundraisers, convalescent homes, and schools.   To see videos of Nancy and other members of her freestyle team, go to: tophatandtails.net.

Nancy is a member of Top Hat and Tails Canine Dance Troupe, the World Canine Freestyle Organization, the Unleashed Dance Company, the Musical Dog Sport Association, the Talcott Mountain Agility Club, and is President of the Northeast Flat-Coated Retriever Club.

Nancy recently retired after 35 years of teaching.  She is enjoying spending more time with her husband Ken, their 4 Flat-Coats, their rescue lab mix, Porter, and her bunny, Sprout.
