Classes >> Rally Obedience
A Rally course is designed with 10 to 20 different “stations” with written instructions to be performed by the team. The course is numbered and the handler and dog follow the course performing each exercise. The dog and handler move thru the course with the dog under control and walking politely on the handler’s left side. Praise, talking, clapping, patting your legs and all verbal means of encouragement are allowed in the ring. Repeating an exercise if necessary is also allowed. During competition events handlers may not use treats or touch their dogs. There are four titles available in Rally: Rally Novice (RN), Rally Advanced (RA), Rally Excellent (RE) and Rally Advanced Excellent (RAE). Rally is a fun and great way to continue using your Family Dog skills and to work as a team with your dog!
AKC Rally NoviceRally is a fun sport where dogs and handlers navigate a course of stations, designed by a judge. Each station has a sign with instructions for actions to be performed by the team. The team works at its own pace to complete the course. In Rally, handlers are encouraged to talk to and praise their dogs as they navigate the course. In this class, you and your dog will learn the skills needed to enter AKC Rally Novice. Each week, new signs will be introduced, and you will have a chance to practice the skills needed to successfully complete a course. AKC Rally rules will be explained, and you will get the chance to practice on courses. Working through distractions will be part of the class. To participate, dogs should have basic everyday obedience skills (sit, down, stay, walk on leash) and should have completed Family Dog II or its equivalent. Handlers need not have competed in Rally before. What to bring: a hungry dog, lots of yummy treats, a clicker and a sense of humor! Prerequisite: Family Dog II or comparable training. Your dog should be able to walk loosely near your side on leash and have reliable sits and downs.

. AKC Rally Novice Drop-In ClassAKC Rally Novice Drop-In Class held on Wednesdays at 11:30 AM.
Fee: $25 (non-members) $22.50 members, paid cash or check only made out to Tails-U-Win!, paid to instructor at check-in.
If class will not be held, we will post on the home page of our website and/or on our Facebook page. AKC Rally Novice / AdvancedThis 8-week course will introduce you to both the Novice and Advanced exercises of AKC Rally. Short mini courses will be introduced. The Novice signs carry themselves all the way thru the Excellent level so a good foundation of these exercises is critical! Even if you are entered in Advanced or Excellent at the competition level you will benefit from this course using the time to perfect your handling skills and ensuring you have a good understanding of the exercises. Prerequisite: Family Dog II or comparable training. Your dog should be able to walk loosely near your side on leash and have fairly reliable sits and downs.
What to Bring: Bring lots of delicious treats, your clicker, your encouragement and enthusiasm! Fee: 8 week, $165.00 non-members, $148.50 for members.

The class will allow you to practice complete Advanced courses with your dog. Fee: $140.00 for non-members / $105.30 for members

Rally is one of the sports offered by the AKC. This competitive event combines elements from basic obedience training, competition obedience, free style dance and agility! Rally can also provide a transitional link to competitive obedience and agility or just be another fun team activity to learn with your dog!
